Easter Eggstravaganza 2009

On a sunny Easter Saturday, Cornton Baptist Church opened their doors and grounds for their annual Easter Eggstravaganza – a free family fun day. The locals came in their droves to enjoy a great family time together in the early afternoon. Parents and Grandparents enjoyed tea and coffee and lots of home-baking as the kids enjoyed the activities on offer. And it was all free.

There were fun activties inside for the under 5's as well as face painting and playstation games for the older children. There was a sale stall with nice cheap items to buy - all proceeds from this went to the Church building fund.

Outside as the sun shone and the rain stayed away, kids bounced up and down on the Bouncy Castle. The other inflatable this year was a bungee run - and what fun everyone had on that. Strapped to a bungee rope two competitors had to run towards the end of the inflatable run without being pulled back by the bungee. People tried their skills at the football shoot in but it was harder than it looked.

The main attraction of the day though was the puppets once again. The group had travelled up from East Kilbride Baptist Church and put on 2 great 20 minute shows during the afternoon. This was now their thrid time with us and they were as good as ever. They acted and sang some lively songs and the audience joined in and danced along. As the day drew to a close everyone gathered for the final performance and enjoyed the message the puppets shared about God’s love for us all – especially remembered at Easter.

The day finished with all the children going home with an Easter Egg from the Church. Everyone enjoyed the day and the weather.

Another great and fun day was had by all and Pastor Hamish summed it up "What great weather, great fun, great people and a great witness. And all to celebrate a great God and let the people of the Cornton know of Him and His love for them. The church folks enjoyed it as much as those who came in from the community."
